Announcements 2023 Fulbright HSI Virtual Workshop (Thursday, Nov 9) and NEH Humanities Research Centers on AI
by Iwan Notowidigdo
Greetings Colleagues,
See below for the Fulbright HSI Virtual Workshop being held a week from tomorrow.
Also, NEH announced an initiative on Humanities Research Centers on Artificial Intelligence with a deadline of February 14, 2024 (and optional draft due January 10, 2024). Centers must focus their scholarly activities on exploring the ethical, legal, or societal implications of AI. A Center is a sustained collaboration among scholars focused on exploring a specific topic. Successful applicants will examine the humanities implications of AI through two or more related scholarly activities. Centers must be led by scholars in the humanities or humanistic social sciences but should include scholars from multiple disciplines. Scholars may come from one or more institutions.
https://www.neh.gov/program/humanities-research-centers-artificial-intell...
National Endowment for the Humanities suggests that individual NEH research applications concerning AI can be addressed through their Collaborative Research grants https://www.neh.gov/grants/research/collaborative-research-grants (due Nov. 29); Digital Humanities Advancement Grants https://www.neh.gov/grants/odh/digital-humanities-advancement-grants (due Jan. 11, 2024); or Digital Projects for the Public grants https://www.neh.gov/grants/public/digital-projects-the-public (due June 12, 2024).
Finally, starting next week, I'm shifting my office hours to Wednesday for the month of November. The links are in the signature section below.
Thank you,
Iwan

Community-Engaged Research Survey
by Sharon Nichols
Hi Colleagues,
I am sharing with you a link to a very brief Qualtrics survey with the goal of surveying the scope/type of COEHD faculty (TTT/FTT) community-engaged research partnerships.
I am trying to capture all the different research partnerships we currently have (or have had) AND to get a sense of the kinds of supports you might need to initiate new ones (or maintain existing ones)
All Tenure/Tenure Track and full time FTT who do research should please fill this out. This will only take 10 minutes at most…if you have questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly.
https://utsa.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_1RM7H1CPY2bcVAG?Q_DL=CGG0sCSFM...
I will keep this open until Next Tuesday November 7, 2023 (and will send at least one reminder, so be ready for at least one more nag…)
Anyone who completes the survey will be eligible to enter a raffle to win a car……
Just kidding…but maybe you’ll do it even without the possibility of a new car.
Thanks for doing this!
Sharon
