UTSA Associate Professor Langston Clark speaks on receiving 2023
Piper Professor Award
Langston Clark, associate professor in the UTSA College of Education and Human Development (COEHD) and the College for Health, Community and Policy (HCAP), has been named a 2023 Piper Professor Award recipient. The award, established by the San Antonio-based Minnie Stevens Piper Foundation in 1958, recognizes 10 college professors each year from across Texas for their outstanding academic, scientific and scholarly achievements.

Join us tomorrow, May 2nd, starting at 11:00am at UTSA Main Campus - Sombrilla Plaza for the Ballet Folklórico Plateros performance. Event is hosted by the Bicultural-Bilingual Studies Department.
What is BALLET FOLKLÓRICO PLATEROS?
[The Ballet Folkrórico Plateros, owes its name to its place of origin, the community of Plateros in Fresnillo Zacatecas, Mexico; whose headquarters has witnessed its work and development since December 6, 2016. This has been possible thanks to the leadership of its director: Lic. Octavio Alejandro Jiménez Navarrete. Currently, the company has been attached to the College of Scientific and Technological Studies 7 (CECyTE) Zacatecas . Its mission is to promote, consolidate and preserve national and regional folk dance, in all possible scenarios and spaces, with the intention of making the customs and traditions of our country and its invaluable culture prevail.]
[Their career has been a benchmark of success in themselves, which is why they have had the opportunity to participate and compete in various festivals within the country, and even outside of it, such as:·Vallarta Azteca International Folklore Festival, Pueto Vallarta, Jalisco. ·International Folklore Festival, Zacatecas. ·CECyTE Art and Culture Festival, Zacatecas. ·Art and Culture Festival, Runners-up, in the State of Puebla. ·Art and Culture Festival, Runners-up, in the State of Chiapas. ·Winners of the "Pride of my land 2022" contest, Tepic, Nayarit. ·Multiple presentations in the US, particularly in the States of Iowa, Texas and Chicago. ·Participation in other countries of the region in Latin America such as Peru and Colombia. Currently, this ballet is made up of two categories, youth and children, so the energy, freshness and Mexican talent are its letter of introduction.]
