A little about Frances, she’s a native of El Paso, TX, and holds a Bachelor’s in Journalism from the University of Texas at Austin. She began her career in local media covering El Paso news along the border before moving to Washington DC. There, she worked for CNN DC, covering everything from the Obama re-election, immigration, Hurricane Sandy, the Sandy Hook and Aurora, CO theater shootings, and more. In 2015, she transitioned to working for a local nonprofit doing humanitarian work in Palestine and the West Bank before moving back to Texas. She recently did communication work for the Cibolo Center for Conservation in Boerne. Dear COEHD faculty and staff, With classes officially underway, I want to say welcome back but also welcome aboard to our newest COEHD team members! I sincerely hope the semester is off to a great start and things, in general, are running smoothly. I cannot say enough how much I appreciate the large and small, grand and subtle things you do each day to advance us closer to our shared destinations of being the model for student success, a stellar community-serving research institution, and a responsive and caring college. It's the unrecognized actions that often make more significant impacts on our work. I am honored to serve as your dean and look forward to what we will accomplish together this year.
