COEHD T&P/Annual Review guidelines

Dear COEHD,
Attached are the approved COEHD guidelines for Tenure & Promotion and Annual Review. We again would like to thank the Supercommittee that developed these guiding documents, responded to faculty comments, and worked to get them approved.
The guidelines, which were approved by Academic Affairs in fall 2022, will officially go into effect next fall, 2024. While many of the guiding principles are already reflected in our work in the College, the document will be used more extensively during next fall’s faculty review cycles.

In awarding the research grants, the Institute of Education Sciences (IES) intends to provide national leadership in expanding knowledge and understanding of (1) education outcomes for all learners from early childhood education through postsecondary and adult education, and (2) employment and wage outcomes when relevant (such as for those engaged in career and technical, postsecondary, or adult education). IES research grant programs are designed to provide interested individuals and the general public with reliable and valid information about education practices that support learning and improve academic achievement and access to education opportunities for all learners. These interested individuals include parents, educators, learners, researchers, and policymakers. In carrying out its grant programs, IES provides support for programs of research in areas of demonstrated national need. In awarding research training grant programs, IES aims to prepare individuals to conduct rigorous and relevant education and special education research that advances knowledge within the field and addresses issues important to education policymakers and practitioners.
Competitions in This Notice:
The IES National Center for Education Research (NCER) is announcing three competitions—one competition in each of the following areas: education research training; statistical and research methodology in education; and research networks focused on critical problems of education policy and practice.
The Research Training Programs in the Education Sciences (ALN 84.305B). Under this competition, NCER will consider only applications that address one of the following topics:
* Early Career Development and Mentoring Program for Education Research
* Early Career Development and Mentoring Program for Faculty at Minority-Serving Institutions
* Methods Training for Education Researchers
Statistical and Research Methodology in Education (ALN 84.305D). Under this competition, NCER will consider only applications that address one of the following topics:
* Core Grants (which supports the development of new and improved statistical and research methods and their dissemination to education researchers)
* Toolkits, Guidelines, Compendia, and Review Papers
Research Networks Focused on Critical Problems of Education Policy and Practice (ALN 84.305N). Under this competition, NCER will consider only applications that address one of the following topics:

COEHD Fall 2023 Kick Off (Zoom Link)

Good morning COEHD,
Please find the link to the College of Education and Human Development's Annual Fall Kick-off Meeting. A time, when faculty and staff come together to share their plans for the journey ahead. Every semester is an opportunity for us, as a college, to continue to grow our programs, increase enrollment, strengthen our partnerships, and maintain the steady steamboat that is COEHD.
We are pleased to have been joined by Interim Provost Dr. Heather Shipley, who provided us with an overview of everything happening within UTSA. From there, Dean Torres expanded on the college's mission and touched on the challenges we face in the Higher Education community and how we can best work together to continue supporting our students.
To emphasize the value and need for strategic partnerships, the college hosted Celina Moreno, President and CEO of the Intercultural Development
Research Association, a group that has maintained a long-time relationship working with our great faculty at UTSA. President Moreno, outlined the policy and advocacy work her organization does such as fighting for fair and uncensored education policies, to name a few.
Lastly, you will find kind words shared by Dean Torres and others as we honored newly retired and endowed faculty along with other pertinent COEHD news such as new hires and upcoming events.
