Dear COEHD Community,
I'm delighted to announce Dr. Kristen Lindahl will serve as our next Associate Dean for Strategic Partnerships, Preparation, and Growth effective September 1, 2024. As an accomplished scholar and proven academic leader, Dr. Lindahl exceeds every qualification for this important role. As a former assistant dean, she performed duties and responsibilities essential to this role and played a key part in the development of the Equity and Education degree, among other accomplishments - experiences that will serve her well in this position. Her more recent efforts with the federally funded SELFIES grant also reveal much promise and potential to position COEHD for funded innovative degree pathways in the future. No question she has been an active and thoughtful citizen at all levels. I am excited by her vision for this college and thrilled by all the possibilities and opportunities. Please join me in congratulating Dr. Lindahl.
Words do not fully convey my gratitude to Dr. Flores for her wisdom, dedication, and superb service to the college for many years. She's an inspiration to many of us. Please be reminded Dr. Flores is not retiring but will go on faculty development leave in the fall.

UTSA Democratizing Racial Justice Project to fund 10 local art projects
The UTSA Democratizing Racial Justice (DRJ) Project has selected 10 local artists for its 2024 Artist in Residency Program<https://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=001Cq0JlAMiccFyTClGkYwmMdHv2yEzMslyaZBIxX5pe...> from a competitive pool of nearly 40 artists from the greater San Antonio area. The artists are receiving a stipend to fund their work for the duration of their project using a variety of media including music, multimedia, poetry, storytelling and visual art.
“It’s important for us to work closely with different community organizations and artists to create artistic projects,” said Alejandra Elenes, DRJ principal investigator (PI) and chair of the Department of Race, Ethnicity, Gender, and Sexuality Studies.

Thank you for your submission to last year's UTeach conference. We want to inform you about the opportunity to have your work considered for inclusion in the special issue of the New Directions in Teaching and Learning Journal <https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/journal/15360768> , themed "Innovation in STEM Teacher Preparation through UTeach." Proposals should include the following:
• Title
• Names and affiliations of authors and contributors
• Brief (500 word) discussion of the theme
• Abstract (200-300 word)
Proposal submissions should be sent to special issue guest editors, Drs. Uchenna Emenaha Miles and Grant Clayton. All submissions will undergo a peer review process selection and be published in online New Directions in Teaching and Learning Journal. The journal’s editorial board will handle the peer review process in consultation with the guest editors.
