Graduate Assistant for LEAD/SOAR Student Success

The LEAD/SOAR Student Success Program is in need of a graduate assistant that will be able
to assist in program planning.
General Information
• Hours per week: 19
• Pay per hour: $15
• Start timeframe: Fall 2018
About the Programs
The LEAD Summer Academy is a 5-week summer bridge program that requires students who have
been conditionally admitted for the fall semester to begin attendance at UTSA in the
second 5-week summer session preceding the start of the fall term. LEAD students are
enrolled in at least 6 college level hours, and are required to participate in additional
programming that will help the student transition into the fall semester successfully, and
with added confidence.
The SOAR Student Success Program aims at assisting first year freshmen that have fallen on
academic warning, academic probation or are returning from their first academic dismissal.
Programming consists of ensuring that students fully understand what their academic status
means, strategies on how to successfully clear their current status, along with
understanding pertinent UTSA academic policies that are impactful to their current
situation. By providing support, the goal is to help students reach academic good standing
as quickly as possible.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities may include assisting in the planning, organizing, and managing of
program logistics. This may include organizing workshops and other student activities.
Assisting with the tracking of program participants, oversight of peer mentors, and
helping with the assessment and evaluation of the program may be some of the tasks
assigned to the LEAD/SOAR graduate assistant.

Portion of BK5 Parking Lot Closed Oct 15 -

A portion of the BK5 parking lot located near the Child Development Center (CDC) will be
closed from Monday, October 15, 2018 until Monday, October 22, 2018, for repairs to the
water line that services the CDC. Detour signs will be posted in and around the work area
to assist with vehicular and pedestrian traffic. For additional information, reference the
attached photos or contact the Facilities Service Center at 458-4262.
