[Coehd] ILT Department Chair Search Update

Dear Colleagues, It is with great pleasure that I announce the completion of a successful national search for the next ILT Department Chair. Based on the recommendation of the search committee and with approval from the Provost, I am pleased to announce that Dr. Ann Marie Ryan has accepted the position and will begin July 1, 2019. Dr. Ryan holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Illinois, Chicago. She is currently an Associate Professor in the School of Education at Loyola University, Chicago. She was also appointed through the Provost's office as the School Partnership Coordinator and has served as the Associate Dean for Academic Programs, the Faculty Director of Accreditation, and Program Chair (equivalent to Department Chair) in the Department of Teaching and Learning, as well as serving as Graduate Program Director. Her most recent publication (2019), Teaching, Learning, and Leading with Schools and Communities: Field-based Teacher Education, her work on educator preparation re-design and strong clinical preparation and accreditation of educator preparation programs underscore the types of background and skills we have been seeking in a successful leader to fill this critical position in COEHD. I look forward to her arrival! Dr. Ryan will be visiting several times between now and her start date. I will send information about the schedule so that she can begin to meet with programs and work on transition with Dr. Schutz and the department. I want to thank Dr. Sullivan and the ILT Department Chair Search Committee for their tireless efforts and diligence throughout the process. I also want to thank Dr. Paul Schutz for his leadership of the department this year. I look forward to Dr. Ryan's work with ILT and the college.
