I want to update you on our Associate Dean positions. We had an incredibly talented group of applicants for the open positions. They had a strong focus on UG and Graduate student success, aligned with institutional priorities. This was a wonderful finding and it has assisted with my plans to develop leadership capacity within the college. I have worked with the Provost's Office to develop a Faculty Assistant Dean title. This structure allows mid-career faculty to work with the Associate Deans in the respective areas to (1) help with work distribution, (2) create a representative group ( faculty on assignment at the Associate and Assistant Dean levels from the COEHD) working on college and institutionally aligned initiatives, and (3) build leadership capacity through mentoring and development of mid-career faculty. Please join me in congratulating the following colleagues and wish them well in their new roles: Dr. Norma Guerra ( EDP), Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies Dr. Alberto Cordova ( KHN), Assistant Dean for Student Success Dr. Abraham DeLeon (ELPS), Assistant Dean for Curriculum and Programming Dr. Vittorio Marone (ILT), Assistant Dean for Graduate Studies I look forward to working with our newly appointed colleagues.
