Dr. Rosalind Horowitz, professor in the Department of Interdisciplinary Learning and Teaching, has been nominated for the prestigious Edward Fry Book Award of the national Literacy Research Association (LRA) for her book, "The Achievement Gap in Reading: Complex causes, persistent issues, possible solutions." The book was coedited with S. Jay Samuels, professor emeritus at The University of Minnesota—Twin Cities. Contributors to the volume devoted 50 to 65 years in scholarly research on equity and opportunity in student achievement.
