The Women's Studies Institute, housed in the Consortium for Social Transformation,
kicked off the start of the 2016 Women's History Month Conference at the opening
reception on Tuesday, March 1. This is the 30th year that UTSA has celebrated women’s
history and the 13th year that the institute has hosted Women’s History Month. To view a

The Women’s Studies Institute kicked off the 2016 Women’s History Month Conference with
the annual Opening Reception on Tuesday, March 1, 2016. The institute, which is housed in
the College of Education and Human Development’s Consortium for Social Transformaton,
honored the 2016 Women’s Advocate of the Year Yonnie Blanchette, executive director of the
Carver Community Cultural Center, and featured keynote speechs by Women’s History Week
co-founders Drs. Susan Smulyan and Linda Pritchard.

keyboard. He counts out loud with each flip. Each peg on the board, called a
Nepohualtzintzin, represents a numerical unit.

taking a major step in their two-year partnership to enrich the education and leadership
in San Antonio’s largest urban school district. On Thursday, media and district partners
