PRESS: Exciting new opportunity to present research at
UTSA<http://education.utsa.edu/awards_announcements/article/press_exci...
We are pleased to announce that the Center for Research and Policy in Education (CRPE) at
the UTSA College of Education and Human Development (COEHD) will sponsor a
research-oriented seminar series, the Policy and Research in Education Seminar Series
(PRESS), which will provide a platform for graduate students and faculty across campus to
discuss their current research and receive feedback on works-in-progress. We would like to
invite our UTSA colleagues from across different disciplines, including but not limited to
education, psychology, sociology, public policy, demography, and economics, to present at
and attend PRESS. We are particularly interested in research on educational issues related
to underserved and underrepresented students from early childhood through K-12 and into
higher education and the workforce.
Presentations will be held once a month (see schedule below). Each session will be 90
minutes long, featuring two presentations (45 minutes for each presenter, including
Q&A). We expect to kick off the series on October 18 and we are NOW accepting requests
to present during Fall 2018 (for sessions in October, November, and December 2018). Much,
though not all, of what we present at PRESS is work in progress, so feel free to come with
new ideas or projects in their preliminary stages - finished papers are not expected.
Fall 2017 Schedule
Wednesday, October 18 from 1-2:30pm*
Tuesday, November 14 from 1-2:30pm*
Wednesday, December 13 from 1-2:30pm*
*specific location to be announced
Additionally, we are planning to host roundtable presentations (perhaps at the end of this
semester or early next semester) for individuals interested in getting feedback on ideas
for research or ongoing projects. If you are interested in presenting in a roundtable
format instead, please indicate so following the process below.
If you are interested in presenting, please complete this form by Monday, October 9th; if
you have any questions about PRESS, feel free to email Bryan Duarte
(bryan.duarte@utsa.edu<mailto:bryan.duarte@utsa.edu>) or Ripsimé Bledsoe
(ripsime.bledsoe@utsa.edu<mailto:ripsime.bledsoe@utsa.edu>). We hope to announce the
presentation calendar with logistical details soon.
We look forward to learning more about your research and seeing you at the
presentations!
