[Coehd] Dr. Augustine Romero: Community Talk on Race and Education

UTSA Family, The Consortium for Social Transformation and African American Studies program invite you to attend "A Community Conversation on Race and Education," featuring Dr. Augustine Romero. The program is on Wednesday, November 19, from 6-8 p.m. in the Buena Vista Theatre 1.326 (downtown campus).See attached flyer. Dr. Augustine Romero is the former Director of the Department of Multicultural Curriculum for the Tucson Unified School District (TUSD), co-founder of the Social Justice Education Project, and architect and founder of TUSD's Mexican American Studies program. He is also the creator of the Critical Compassionate Intellectualism Model of Transformative Education. Dr. Romero advocates for social justice and equity in education, and he values the talents that all students bring into the classroom. His talk will center around the creation, implimentation and struggle to protect the revolutionary Mexican American Studies program in Arizona's TUSD.
