I would like to offer a big note of appreciation to faculty who donated books for the
children's library on the Amazon River. I especially want to say thanks to Charles
Thurston who contributed books from the UTSA library. The group of teachers that I
traveled with donated over 75 books, games, puzzles, office supplies, and curricula. The
library services 59 villages along the Amazon River and kids come for after school
programs and events in dugout canoes!
Thanks also go to Deborah Wolfe and Jo Ann Jones in the Dean's office for supporting
this endeavor by sharing some UTSA and COEHD materials for me to distribute. There are
now kids throughout the rainforest wearing roadrunner "tatoos" and waving UTSA
banners!
Thanks to all!
