African American Studies Doctoral Fellowship

We are looking for a COEHD doctoral student to work with the African American Studies
program housed in COEHD. This is a fully funded doctoral position that will provide salary
and tuition and fees for academic year 2017-2018. The position involves both Research and
Teaching opportunities.
Eligibility
1) Applicants must be current Ph.D. or Ed.D. student in The College of Education and
Human Development. MA students in COEHD programs are also welcome to apply.
2) Applicants are preferred to have experience of the study/research that centers on
or is related to Africa and the African Diaspora.
3) Applicants must be continuously enrolled as a full - time graduate student for the
term of the award.
4) Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or above.
Duties
1. Recipient will be working as a Graduate Research Assistant in the Fall 2017
semester assisting with grant proposal writing for the African American Studies program.
2. Recipient will be working as a Teaching Assistant for African American Studies
program teaching one course for the Spring 2018 semester for AAS program.
3. Doctoral Fellow will report to the director of African American Studies Program.
4. Other duties as assigned.

1. Applicant Information: Provide your contact information, current status and
current field of study. Provide details about your proposed dissertation research,
relevant coursework, academic honors, pertinent teaching/employment experience and
titles/citations of publications.

3. Application Essay: In 1,500 words describe your interest in AAS
teaching/researching and scholarship.
4. Two Letters of recommendation: a) Doctoral Mentor's Letter of Recommendation:
Your faculty mentor/advisor will be asked to provide a letter of support that will assess
your commitment to this TA/GRA position. b) Second letter of professional recommendation.
