Happy New Year 2023, Friends and Colleagues: I just watched this talk by Juan
González<https://nam11.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%...;,
author of Harvest of Empire: A History of Latinos in
America<https://nam11.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2...;.
I was particularly taken by
Juan´s critical analysis of DEI, arguably a neoliberal construct, in relation to the
anti-Blackness movement and the Latinx experience in the U.S. I believe it is worth
considering Juan´s perspectives on DEI and the capitalist and imperialist dynamics that
are markedly absent from mainstream DEI discourse. If you are interested, the argument
begins at 19:10 minutes or so.
Saludos y feliz año nuevo,
Cristian.
