[Coehd] New COEHD Associate Dean for Faculty Development

Dear Colleagues, Please see the email below from the Provost and join me in welcoming Dr. Oliva to her new role in COEHD, which will begin in January. As Associate Dean for Faculty Development, Dr. Oliva will work on a number of initiatives and policy issues, further strengthening COEHD's commitment to faculty affairs and development. We will be focusing this Fall on the types of initiatives that will populate her portfolio for the Spring, addressing areas of need surrounding the recruitment and retention of faculty, faculty mentorship, diversity initiatives, P&T process, faculty development, policies related to faculty affairs, and workload, to name a few. We are lucky to have Dr. Oliva serve in this exciting role and her experience with academic and faculty support will be complementary to the leadership team and efforts within COEHD. I look forward to her work as we move forward. -- Regards, Margo [cid:image001.png@01D449B3.50DB7400] SENT ON BEHALF OF KIMBERLY ANDREWS ESPY, PROVOST Dear Colleagues, As part of our efforts to streamline administrative processes and provide more cohesive and consistent support for our faculty and departments, the university's academic and faculty support functions are being re-integrated into Academic Affairs. As such, the following staff members are relocating to the fourth floor Main Building suite this month: Jenny De Los Santos, Eileen Egan, KC Gonzalez, Kevin McCollom, Andrea Trease, and Jacques Watkins. In addition to improving communications and processes by co-locating Academic Affairs staff, this move also allows us to reassign valuable space downtown to academic purposes in alignment with President Eighmy's re-envisioning of the Downtown Campus to offer students a comprehensive living and learning experience. To minimize disruption until his planned retirement next summer, Dr. Jesse T. Zapata, senior vice provost, will continue to office on the fourth floor of the Frio Street Building, supported by senior administrative associate Melissa Ozuna. Dr. Maricela Oliva, who holds a part-time position as associate vice provost for academic and faculty support, will take on a new role as Associate Dean for Faculty Development in the College of Education and Human Development effective January 1, 2019. Beginning today, all mail related to the academic and faculty support functions (faculty supplements, etc.) should be sent to the Office of the Provost at the Main Campus.
