The White House Initiative on Education Excellence for Hispanics will host its monthly
webinar on Wednesday, August 20th at 2pm EDT/11am PDT. This month’s subject is Hispanic
Teacher Recruitment and will include presenter Dr. Belinda Flores, Chair of
Bicultural-Bilingual Studies for The University of Texas at San Antonio’s (UTSA) College
of Education and Human Development (COEHD).

academia through community colleges and institutions around the United States. Today she
remains one of the most respected scholars on educational opportunity in the nation. Dr.

Antonio this September 30, 2014.

The University of Texas at San Antonio College of Education and Human Development has
named Dr. Theodorea Regina Berry, associate professor in the Department of
Interdisciplinary Learning and Teaching, as director of the African American Studies (AAS)
Program. The AAS program is housed in the college’s Consortium for Social Transformation.

to cheat to win, study says. College athletes who have abusive coaches are more willing to
cheat in order to win than players with more ethical coaches, according to new research
published by the American Psychological Association and based on surveys from almost
20,000 student athletes at more than 600 colleges across the country.

(TPR) -- The East education center, off Eisenhauer Road, is one of two new centers opening
this fall. Construction workers hurried up and down the halls this week, carrying drills
and popping in and out of classrooms. They are on a deadline of the year to finish up the
final two Pre-K 4 SA centers in the program.

(NPR MARKETPLACE) -- As iPads and other technologies make their way into more classrooms,
unforeseen consequences are also on the rise. There's the need for more IT workers.
There's the need for bigger security budgets. And now, there's this: The American
Civil Liberties Union has filed a complaint with the Massachusetts Department of
Elementary and Secondary Education over a policy that lets some kids take their
school-issued tablets home, while others cannot.
