Spotlight:
UTSA School Psychology ranks high in research productivity, three faculty deemed “most
prolific”<http://education.utsa.edu/SPOTLIGHT/article/utsa_school_psyc...

Over the span of six short years, COEHD’s School Psychology program has gone from a
fledgling program to ranking 6th in the nation in terms of research productivity, when
compared to other non-doctoral School Psychology programs between 2002-2011. During a
recent National School Psychology (NASP) conference, the department's prowess in
productivity was re-affirmed when COEHD's Dr. Jeremy Sullivan (#9), Department Chair
and Associate Professor of Educational Psychology; and Dr. Norma Guerra (#20), Associate
Professor; and their colleague in the college of business, Dr. Daniel A. Sass (#13),
Associate Professor were named to the NASP Top 25 faculty members/most productive scholars
in the school psychology specialist/masters level programs, based on authorship credit.

Three undergraduate students from the College of Education and Human Development’s
Department of Interdisciplinary Learning and Teaching (ILT) were presented with the
Giuseppe Antonio and Marietta Martinello Inquiry Award during the Interdisciplinary
Studies Colloquium on Saturday, February 13. The colloquium also honored the life of Dr.
Marian Martinello, who passed away last year.

Janis M. Harmon, Ph.D. | Associate Dean for Undergraduate Student Success
The University Life Awards, sponsored by the UTSA Student Government Association, is a
UTSA tradition that honors the most outstanding students, student organizations, faculty,
and staff members on our campus. From the colleges, the Student Government Association
will recognize an outstanding undergraduate and graduate student. Finalists and winners
will be announced at the University Life Awards Banquet on Thursday, April 7th. COEHD is
seeking nominations for outstanding undergraduate and graduate students. In order to be
eligible for the award, a student must be an undergraduate or graduate student majoring in
the COEHD and currently enrolled at UTSA. The award is based upon academic achievement and
involvement in the UTSA community. Completed nomination forms should be submitted to me
via email or campus mail no later than close of business Friday, February 12, 2016.

Bruce Barnett Nathern Okilwa | Educational Leadership and Policy Studies
The Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies is hosting an Interview/Resume
Workshop for interested educational leadership and principal certification students on
Saturday, February 20 at 9 a.m. on the UTSA Downtown Campus. The purpose of this workshop
is to prepare students for their first administrative interview. The panel will first
present general suggestions for preparing a resume and interview. Later, the panel will
conduct 30-minute mock interviews followed by 15 minutes of debriefing and reflection. The
panel includes school and district administrators from Harlandale ISD, Northside ISD, and
