Dear Colleague,
Please be aware that, as of September 27, 2022, email authentication requirements for all
mobile devices will be upgraded in accordance with a new Microsoft policy.
To ensure your e-mail experience is not impacted, please take the following steps:
1. Update your mobile device to the latest operating system
(
iOS<https://nam11.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2F...;,
Android<https://nam11.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2...;)
2. Use the Microsoft Outlook app to access your UTSA e-mail. Note: other e-mail
clients, including the native Android and iOS mail apps, are not recommended.
From Tuesday, September 27 to Friday, September 30, Tech Café will offer extended phone
support hours from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
WHAT WE’RE DOING:
In accordance with Microsoft’s policy change, we will be retiring all use of basic
authentication to connect to Microsoft products. In preparation, Tech Solutions will be
updating all versions of Outlook for Windows and Mac on UTSA-managed devices. This will
improve the security of our UTSA community by ensuring that all devices are subject to a
secure user authentication and authorization process.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
When logging into e-mail clients, you will see the familiar Microsoft authentication
prompt with Duo that you’re used to seeing throughout UTSA’s environment.
This upgrade is part of our continuous efforts to ensure the availability, reliability,
and performance of UTSA's technology infrastructure. With it, we will further enhance
network security as well as enable higher levels of network capacity and resiliency. While
this work is essential, we also recognize that it may present an inconvenience to our
users. Thank you for your patience as we work hard to provide a better user experience.
Thank you,
Tech Solutions
