Do you have gently-used books stacked up at
home? Clean off your shelves and help change lives at the same time by donating your books to the 2014 SECC Book Sale. Look for the drop boxes with the heart placed in all major buildings on Main Campus, or give your donation to your Area Champion, in addition donations can be dropped off at the Library Circulation Desk in the box marked SECC Book Sale. Dates for donations are September 23 through October 22.

The aim of the conference is to bring together scholars and students of education and other related disciplines. Hispanic Heritage Month, celebrated from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15, honors the histories, cultures, and contributions of U.S. Hispanic citizens whose ancestral roots date back to Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. In the U.S., 16 percent of the population is of Hispanic or Latino origin. In Texas, 38 percent of the population is Latina/o.

UTSA’s first faculty member, Dewey D. Davis, passed away Sept. 17 at age 86. A first-generation college graduate who specialized in science education, Davis worked at UTSA for 15 years but remained a fixture at the university until his death.
