UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH DAY!
by Rosalind Horowitz
Dear Faculty,
This is still another reminder that the first-ever UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH DAY, to be a yearly event, will be on Thursday, April 24th, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in a number of spaces, including the Denman Room of the UC (the Martinello Prize), other UC rooms, the Hallways, the Walkways, and surrounding areas. Please encourage our undergraduate and graduate students as well to attend. The research our students have conducted will primarily be presented in poster format but there will be other modes of presentation as well. There will be opportunities to view the posters, talk to the researchers, and learn a great deal about a variety of research questions and methods that bear on educational successes. A range of Colleges, Departments, and Programs will be represented. The opportunity is rich and engaging!

Subject: Undergraduate Research
Dear Colleagues,
Every semester, students in the IDS program complete an inquiry project as part of the capstone course, IDS 3713, Interdisciplinary Inquiry. The very best of these research projects compete annually for the Giuseppe Antonio and Marietta Martinello Prize for Inquiry, an event that, for the first time this year, is aligned with the university-wide undergraduate research day. This event, consisting of the Interdisciplinary Inquiry Research Presentations and the award, is a celebration of our students' work, of their journeys into becoming educators in the community, and of reflective practice that is tied to active research. Please consider to join us and to also encourage your students to take part in this day.
Attached is a brochure that provides more information, but here are the core scheduling details as they pertain to OUR students:
DATE: April 24, 2014
12:00 pm Lunch Break (HUC Ballroom)
Presentations by faculty awardees (HUC Ballroom)
Giuseppe Antonio & Marietta Martinello Prize for Inquiry Presentation
12:45 pm Afternoon Session (throughout north and south UC areas)
Interdisciplinary Learning UG Showcase (in Denman Room)
3:00 pm End of Program
Thank you :)
