SECC charitable giving campaign and COEHD Raffle!

Thank you for your participation so far in the SECC Giving Campaign. The campaign ends November 1- there is still time to give and be entered into the COEHD iPad raffle.
To enter the raffle, please submit to your pledge form to your department representative by sending the digital printout of your giving http://www1.utsa.edu/secc/wordpress/?page_id=66 or the paper copy of pledge form(see attached). We are engaged in the SECC charitable giving campaign and Tuesday, October 15 ( Tomorrow!!) is our contest with UT Health!
Dr. Eighmy would like to see 100% participation and of course for UTSA to win the challenge! I want to encourage all in COEHD to give! The minimum donation is $3.00! Also, you may designate a payroll deduction and designate the charity or charities of your choice (see the attached catalog and pledge form). In order to encourage 100% participation, we will raffle off an iPad as a grand prize ! It is really important to encourage each other to give at whatever level you are able, and the one time gift can be as little as $3.00. Imagine! A new iPad for $3.00!! You have to be in it to win it!

Dear Colleagues,
I hope this finds you having a satisfying and productive semester.
I write to provide you with An Assessment of the COEHD Research: Typologies, Productivity, Perceived Needs
and Strategic Goals (2018-2028), a White Paper prepared by our College Research and Development
Committee. This technical report is based on a range of research undertaken by the Committee--surveys, interviews,
and institutional report comparisons. Our Committee met every 2-weeks during 2017-2018 and portions of 2018-2019 to plan,execute, and write the attached 80-page White Paper.
I write to share the report with the COEHD Faculty and to thank the contributors who are all
active research-scholars, representing each of our Departments.
They gave time away from their own research projects to help us characterize the status of research in the College
and to help make recommendations for 2018-2028.

PROGRAM BENEFITS:
Students & Faculty receive stipend payments for 10 consecutive weeks (May – August 2020)
• Faculty - $1,200/week
• Graduate students - $700/week
• Undergraduate students - $600/week
Housing allowance is provided for participants who:
• Live more than 50 miles, one-way, from their assigned DHS Center and
• Are paying for housing while conducting research at the Center
Travel allowance** provided for participants who live more than 50 miles away, one-way, from their assigned DHS Center –
• If a participant travels by plane or train, ORISE will make travel arrangements and purchase the plane or train tickets.
• If a participant plans to drive, they will be reimbursed for mileage at the current U.S. General Services Administration mileage reimbursement rate up to a maximum of $350, one-way.
**To help defray the cost of flying or shipping personal belongings to and from the internship, participants may receive up to $100 in reimbursement for luggage or parcel shipping expenses.
Travel by faculty and student team members in support of the team’s summer research project may be approved for reimbursement by DHS/ORISE in accordance with federal government travel policies. In order to be considered for reimbursement, travel plans must be endorsed by the DHS Center and approved by DHS/ORISE prior to travel. Travel without pre-approval may not be reimbursed by DHS/ORISE.
Follow-on Funding:
Faculty may apply for up to $50,000 in follow-on funding for the 2020-2021 academic year to continue research and collaboration with the DHS Center. To be considered for follow-on funding, faculty must submit proposals by September 4, 2020. To be eligible for follow on funding, faculty must continue research at the same MSI institutions listed on their completed application forms.
Persons with Disabilities:
DHS is fully committed to implementing all federal laws, regulations and guidelines related to the development of affirmative employment plans and inclusion of persons with disabilities. Therefore, the participation of persons with disabilities is strongly encouraged. To facilitate the participation of individuals with targeted disabilities, DHS will provide up to $1,500 in supplemental funding for special assistance and/or equipment necessary to enable the researcher to perform the work under the award.
