The funding for these does not start until September 2019, so these do not overlap with the timing of COEHD research awards (the funds for which will have been spent by August, 2019), and do not conflict. This program offers experience in identifying and submitting applications to potential funding sources, provides preliminary data to support applications for extramural funding, and enhances scholarly and creative activities. The program is awarding approximately 20 grants of $5,000 each to winning applications. Deadline: March 01, 2019 The Grant for Research Advancement and Transformation (GREAT) program will provide seed grants to support new areas of research for faculty at UTSA. The primary goal of these awards will be to assemble preliminary data that can be used to seek extramural funding. It is expected that up to four grants for a maximum of $20,000 each may be awarded. Deadline: March 22, 2019 The Connecting through Research Partnerships (Connect) Program sponsored by the Office of the VPREDKE at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) and the Southwest Research Institute (SwRI), is a grant opportunity offered to enhance greater scientific collaboration between the two institutions and to increase both UTSA’s and SwRI’s research-funding base with cross-campus collaborative programs. The program encourages interaction between investigators in support of the acquisitions of established extramural, peer-reviewed research funding. This agreement provides unprecedented opportunities for researchers to work together in addressing issues of mutual interest and need. The combined contributions of the two organizations are $125,000, of which UTSA will dedicate $50,000. Deadline: March 29,2019 Michael J. Undergraduate and Graduate first-gen students from all disciplines are encouraged to showcase their work through oral and/or visual presentations. CARS welcomes diverse presentation formats including but not limited to poster, performance, and art installation. Students have the opportunity to participate at the Downtown campus on Tuesday, March 5th from 12PM - 3PM and/or the1604 campus on Wednesday, March 6th from 10AM - 1PM. Co-authored by Ron Avi Astor and Rami Benbenishty, this brief offers an important set of evidence-supported policy considerations for decision makers who want to strategize ways to keep students safe using a public health and psychology framework. Spring Call for COEHD Faculty Research & Mentoring Awards

Two junior faculty research awards have been approved by Dean DelliCarpini this Spring for a total of $45,000 in combined awards. There is the same COEHD Faculty Research Award as offered in previous years and a new pilot Faculty Mentoring Award. Please read information on the timelines (due dates, 5-2 rule), purpose of each award, specifics about budgeting, and procedures for submitting your notice of intent (using Wufoo), your full proposal, and the final proposal. Procedures differ for the two approaches. The Awards are described separately in the attached document. If you have questions about either, please email me. Please read through the entire document before sending questions about either award. I will compile and distribute responses to all faculty at regular intervals.
