This week on Wednesday, November 11, we honor the men and women who served in the
country's military. UTSA is joining in the celebrations and all are invited to attend
any and all of the events (see attachment for details).
Did you know ...
* Veteran's Day originally was celebrated as Armistice Day (end of World War I).
* In 1938, Armistice Day became a federal holiday.
* In 1954, Armistice Day became Veterans Day in recognition of all veterans, not
solely those who served during World War I.
* According to the Department of Veterans Affairs, of a total of 22 million veterans
nationally, 1.68 million veterans resided in Texas in 2014.
