Dear Faculty,
I’m writing with a request for information and also to share with you help that is
available for research proposal development:
Request: Please reply to me (today if you can, Monday if you must) with any ideas for how
you might be able to apply your research focus on COVID-19 related issues? Jaclyn Shaw has
asked for a list of possible applications. With that we will try to help you find related
research funding for you given the growing number of local philanthropic and federal
funding options available for work in this area relevant to your interests.

Think broadly or creatively and you may see connections, considering the disruptions to
schooling and employment, policy changes related to immigration, and experiences of
increasing isolation as well as family connection time, increased use of technology by
families, schools and businesses, all from the COVID-19 response.
Support for Proposal Development: The VPR’s REDKE Office would like to provide proposal
development assistance to faculty. Currently we do not have a Grants Development
Coordinator, but the VPR’s REDKE Office, specifically Jaclyn Shaw and Liana Ryan in
Research Support, want to provide faculty with grant proposal writing and proposal support
as needed, whether for COVID-19 related or regular research proposals that you have
identified a funder for. You can contact either of them (info below) or the RSC Director
you work with (for most of you that is Jennifer Silver, but those submitting grants
through in Downtown Campus Centers may use the DT RSC, and should contact Theresa Bailey)
once you have a funding opportunity in mind and are ready for assistance.

Finally—If you have an active research project, externally funded or not, please review
this site for guidelines on how to make adjustments in response to the current
circumstances.

Specifically, given that all research conducted remotely can continue, but any
face-to-face research with human subjects must be temporarily suspended. Where possible,
you may want to transition in-person interactions for your studies to remote interactions
(e.g., phone, video) to limit potential exposure. All other studies must cease. But,
complete the Modification Application
