Dear COEHD faculty and staff:
Hope the spring semester has been good for all of you thus far. There’s been much activity
in the college in recent months; celebrations, new projects, new initiatives, new
appointments, ongoing faculty searches, etc. – all to say there’s a lot to be excited
about. The future is bright for COEHD.
I wanted to quickly share some news regarding Dr. Belinda Flores, Professor and Associate
Dean for Strategic Partnerships, Preparation, and Growth (ADSPPG). Dr. Flores will be
stepping down from her associate dean role at the end of the academic year and begin her
faculty development leave next fall. Dr. Flores has played a pivotal leadership role in
COEHD’s growth and success over many, many years. Her vision for culturally responsive
teacher preparation and a community serving orientation to partnerships resulted in
numerous accolades and recognitions that shaped COEHD’s image and reputation in lasting
ways. COEHD has benefitted from her wisdom, advocacy, and tirelessness in pursuing
opportunities, especially in securing extramural funding to subsidize essential
programming. It’s been a joy to have had Dr. Flores as a member of my leadership team and
wish her a productive leave in the fall.
In the meantime, we will be launching an internal search for a new associate dean for
strategic partnerships, preparations, and growth (see attachment). This ADSPPG is mission
critical and essential to sustaining the college’s momentum in building new and
strengthening existing projects with community and policy stakeholders, particularly in
the academic partnership, career readiness, and enrollment growth realms. The ADSPPG will
provide critical leadership, mapping our processes and strategies to achieve goals in both
UTSA’s and COEHD’s strategic plan along with serving as a chief point of contact related
to educator licensure and certification (e.g., TEA, CACREP, NASP) and external
partnerships and agreements.
We invite applications from faculty at the rank of full; all applications will be reviewed
by a COEHD search committee. See enclosed for detailed description of role. Due date is
close of business February 15th.
Please reach out to me or Tami Richards with any questions.
Mario
