Campus Services is excited to announce the second annual Peanut Butter Parking Campaign! Together with the Student Government Association (SGA), we’re enhancing the campus experience through friendly parking lessons while giving back to the community. All donations received during the Peanut Butter Parking Campaign will go to the San Antonio Food Bank to help fight hunger in Southwest Texas. Last year, we received over 700 pounds of peanut butter. This year, we hope to receive even more! For those who wish to participate without a citation, we welcome your donations. Eligible citations: The following citations issued from 8/29/16 - 9/2/16 are eligible for peanut butter payment: - Parking Without a Proper Permit ($50 fine) = donate 40 oz. or more of peanut butter - Parking Without a Permit ($100 fine) = donate 80 oz. of peanut butter Bring your citation and peanut butter to Campus Services at MS 1.01.52 (Main Campus) or FS 1.506 (Downtown Campus). Peanut butter payment must be submitted within 14 calendar days of the citation issue date. Appealing the citation forfeits the opportunity to pay with peanut butter. Valid for one citation per person. No glass containers.

Ruiz said schools have their own waiting lists, which is why many parents drive to Austin, or elsewhere, where schools do have openings for autistic children. “Everybody’s on a waiting list. We need services for our kids,” she said. Cynthia Hamilton, the development director for the Autism Therapy Center, said the problem is the lack of trained therapists. “The professionals who are trained to do the behavioral analysis therapy, we don’t have enough of them,” Hamilton said. Hamilton said the center has partnered with UTSA, which teaches them, and the Children’s Hospital to offer paid internships, in hopes of keeping therapists in San Antonio.

Greetings Faculty and Staff-
The Center for Civic Engagement is pleased to announce the COSA Challenge Grant, mini service-learning grants that provide funding to individual students or a group/course to carry out an experiential learning project with a non-profit or public sector agency in the City of San Antonio. Grants will range from $100 - 500 for an individual student project and up to $1000 for a group/course project. Proposals must be student written with a faculty mentor and an identified community partner. All projects must take place in the City of San Antonio. Funding for this program is made possible by District 8 Councilman Ron Nirenberg's discretionary city funds. The grants are open to both undergraduate and graduate students.
